BAFA South East Area Group Conference 2017

This year's conference will take place on 11 December 2017 in Queen's Building, Royal Holloway, University of London, Egham, Surrey from 9am to 5.30 pm followed by a networking and drinks reception until 19.00.

Keynote Speakers 

Hilary Lindsay is an award-winning lecturer in finance and management for the Open University Business School and a researcher and supervisor on the OU Doctorate in Education programme. Dr Lindsay is passionate about personal development and the role of continuing professional development in the accountancy profession. She has published academic articles and the book Adaptability: the secret to lifelong learning. She was the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) for 2016-17; the first academic and second woman to hold that position in ICAEW’s 137-year history. 

Jeffrey Unerman is Professor of Accounting and Corporate Accountability in the School of Management at Royal Holloway, University of London. He was the recipient of the British Accounting and Finance Association’s 2016 Distinguished Academic Award. His research and public policy work focuses on the role of accounting and accountability practices in helping organizations become more sustainable, recognizing the interdependencies between economic, social and environmental risks and opportunities. In addition to serving on the editorial boards of several leading journals, Jeffrey is co-editor (with Jan Bebbington and Brendan O’Dwyer) of Sustainability Accounting and Accountability (2014).

Call for Papers: 

Papers are invited on any area of accounting and finance in either of the following two formats. All submissions should be sent to bafa2017@rhul.ac.uk

1. Emerging Paper – a 200-300 word abstract

Submissions open: 31 July 2017
Submisions close: 31 October 2017

If accepted, you will need to submit Powerpoint presentation by 30 November 2017. The presentation should be made using the timings functions in Powerpoint so that the presentation lasts no longer than 10 minutes. A maximum of 10 slides is recommended for a 10-minute presentation.

2. Full Paper – a 500-600 word extended abstract

Submissions open: 31 July 2017
Submisions close: 31 October 2017

If accepted, you will need to submit the full paper by  30 November 2017 and a 20-minute Powerpoint or other visual format presentation to be submitted by 5pm on 8 December to allow for upload before the conference starts.

Registration

The fees are £80 for salaried members and £40 for PhD students. The ticket price includes refreshments and lunch on the day plus the drinks reception.
