BAFA SCOTLAND 2026 ANNUAL CONFERENCE
Wednesday 10 - Wednesday 10 June 2026 University of the West of Scotland (UWS)BAFA Scotland is pleased to invite you to our one-day, in-person annual conference at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) Paisley campus on Wednesday, 10 June 2026. The conference is being organised by the BAFA Scotland Executive Committee, with the help and support of UWS, BAFA, and ICAS.
Keynote Speakers
Professor Jason Xiao
Professor Jason Xiao is a Professor of Accounting at the University of Macau, China, and an internationally recognised scholar in accounting regulation, information technology, and corporate governance. He currently serves as Editor of The Journal of Accounting and Public Policy and is a former Editor of The British Accounting Review.
His research is widely published in leading international journals, including Accounting, Organizations and Society, Accounting Horizons, Accounting & Business Research, European Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Contemporary Accounting Research, Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Corporate Finance, and Journal of Banking & Finance.
Professor Warren Maroun
Professor Warren Maroun is a Professor of Accounting and Auditing at the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa, and an internationally recognised scholar in financial accounting, assurance, corporate governance, integrated reporting, and sustainability reporting. He currently serves as Co-editor of Meditari Accountancy Research and is an Associate Editor of both Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal and The British Accounting Review.
His research is published extensively in leading academic journals, including Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal, The British Accounting Review, and Accounting Forum.
Call for Papers
Submission Deadline: the submission deadline is now closed.
We are now inviting original submissions of work addressing research questions in all areas of Accounting and Finance, including scholarship. Please note that there is no preference for any particular methodology or topic.
We actively encourage submissions from researchers at all career stages, including experienced faculty, early-career researchers, and doctoral/post-graduate research (PGR) students. Please note, however, that you must be affiliated with a Scottish university to be eligible to submit your work for consideration.
Submissions can be in one of two forms:
- Full Papers - completed or near completed research papers. These papers will be presented in parallel sessions with assigned discussants, followed by audience Q&A.
- Emerging Papers - research that is in its initial stages or the initial analysis of findings (e.g., early drafts, emerging research ideas, and proposals). For this track, we would expect the submission of an extended abstract of no less than 1,000 words. Emerging papers will be presented under a shorter "Lightning Presentation" format, followed by audience Q&A.
Please submit your work via email to scottish-ag@bafa.ac.uk by the submission deadline (noted above) for it to be included in the conference programme. Please include: i) BAFAScotland2026, ii) your name, iii) your institutional affiliation, and iv) your role (i.e., academic or PGR) in the subject line of the email and your submitted file. For example, the file name should adopt the following construction: BAFAScotland2026-JoeBloggs-UoG-PGR.
Authors should also indicate in their email whether their paper should be considered for the FULL or EMERGING paper track.
Selection will be undertaken by the BAFA Scotland Executive Committee after the submission deadline closes, with authors informed of the outcome in due course and no later than 22 May 2026.

Conference registration fees:
- Academic staff: £50
- PhD students: £25
The price includes a buffet lunch and refreshments throughout the day.
