BAFA Scottish Area Group Annual Conference and Doctoral Colloquium 2021

Given the ongoing uncertainty surrounding travel during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Scottish Area Group is organising its first virtual Annual Conference and Doctoral Colloquium on 7–9 September 2021.

The Doctoral Colloquium will run on 7 September with the main conference being held on the 8–9 September. The Conference will be organised on a smaller scale than a face-to-face/ physical conference.

Keynote Speakers

Our Keynote Speaker on 7 September will be Dr Angelica Gonzalez, Senior Lecturer in Finance, University of Edinburgh, on the theme 'A PhD Student's Guide to Impact, Engagement and Collaboration'.

Professor Lee Parker, University of Glasgow and RMIT Melbourne, will be presenting his keynote 'Reclaiming Researchers' Professional Engagement and Relevance' at the main conference.

We are also pleased to welcome James Barbour and Alice Deakin of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS), who will lead on a session 'Research and Professional Accountancy Education: Influencing the Future' covering the profession, policy and accreditation issues.

Our conference will end with a panel discussion on 'Impact, engagement and knowledge exchange'  led by:

• Dr Daniel Broby, Senior Knowledge Exchange Fellow and Director for the Centre for Financial Regulation and Innovation, Strathclyde Business School
• Professor Louise Crawford, Professor of Accounting and Deputy Director of Research at Newcastle University Business School.
• Professor Elizabeth Gammie, Professor of Accounting and Head of the Aberdeen Business School, Robert Gordon University
• Professor John Wilson, Professor of Banking & Finance and Director of the Centre for Responsible Banking & Finance, University of St Andrews

CALL FOR PAPERS [Closed]

Deadline: 30 April 2021 

The conference organising committee welcomes full working papers from all accounting and finance research fields and methodological approaches. We may also be offering space for shorter presentations of research which are at the development stage. Please indicate in your email subject heading whether your submission is a full paper or short piece.
