BAFA Scotland 2023 Doctoral Colloquium

BAFA Scotland is pleased to invite you to a one-day, in-person colloquium on Friday, 24 November 2023 dedicated to PGR students studying at Scottish institutions in the disciplines of accounting and finance. The colloquium will be hosted by Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, and aims to give PGRs an opportunity to present their work, obtain feedback from other PGRs and faculty prior to journal or thesis submission, and network.

We will be joined by Marie Gardner, Head of Research at ICAS, and Professor Adina Dudau, Associate Director and Supervisory Engagement Lead at SGSSS. 

PGR students’ supervisors are also warmly welcomed to attend to support their students, as are PGRs who do not wish to present at this time but still wish to attend and network.

To ensure that all PGRs receive feedback on their work, which is a vital element of the conference experience and helps with advancing and fine-tuning research, we will be assigning discussants for each paper/presentation.

Prizes will be awarded at the end of the day for the Best Papers presented and Best Discussants.

Paper Submission

Deadline: 23 October 2023

We are now inviting submissions of original papers from all areas of accounting and finance and employing all manner of research methodologies and methods. Submissions may include extended abstracts, early working drafts, fully developed papers, or shorter pieces from within the PhD thesis. The submission deadline is 23 October 2023 by 17:00.

Fee: £50

Buying a ticket registers you for this event. Tickets to BAFA conferences are only available to members. To purchase a ticket, log in to your account on the BAFA Membership Portal and click the 'Register for an Event' button. You will see the BAFA Scotland 2023 Doctoral Colloquium event listed, click on the red Register button. You will be able to pay using a debit/credit card.
