BAFA Northern Area Group Annual Conference 2022

We are pleased to invite you to the Joint Annual Conference of the British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA) Corporate Finance and Asset Pricing SIG and the Northern Area Group, which will be held online during 13–14 January 2022. The conference offers an interdisciplinary forum to gain feedback on timely working papers. 

Keynote Speakers

Professor Jonathan Batten (RMIT University, Australia) on ‘Green finance and sustainability’

Professor: Christine Cooper (University of Edinburgh, UK) on ‘Critical Perspectives on Accounting – research challenges and opportunities' 

Professor Steven Young (Lancaster University, UK) on 'Content Analysis and Machine Learning, titled ‘Never the Twain Shall Meet? The Ballard of Accounting and Natural Language Processing.’

There will also be a Workshop on 'Financial Content and Textual Analysis' with Professor Steven Young and a Meet the Editor session where Professor Wenxuan Hou (University of Edinburgh), Joint Editor of the British Accounting Review, will give a talk on publications.

CALL FOR PAPERS

We invite the submission of original papers related to, but not limited by, the following broad theme 'Accounting and Finance in a World of Change'.

We welcome papers covering all areas of accounting and finance, and especially those whose themes are related to changes in finance practices and accounting standards and policies. We particularly welcome timely research that concerns society and economic organisations, such as ESG, sustainability, climate finance, GHG and environmental disclosure, and CSR reporting.

Also, we particularly welcome timely topics in the accounting, finance and the management of innovation, including, but not limited to  Fintech, Cleantech and Cloud Accounting.

Paper Submission (Open)

Deadline: 20 December 2021

Submissions can range from an extended abstract, early working drafts to fully developed papers. Please submit your work via email to northern-ag@bafa.ac.uk by 20 December 2021.

Authors are encouraged to submit their work as soon as it is ready, as the review committee evaluates submissions as papers are received, returning their decisions as quickly as possible.

PUBLICATION OPPORTUNITIES

A special issue of the Journal of Applied Accounting Research (JAAR) on the theme “Climate Risk and Environmental Accounting in a World of Change” is associated with this conference. Authors who will attend the conference are encouraged to submit their papers to this Special Issue. If so, those should indicate if they wish their papers wish to be considered for publication in this special issue. Acceptance for the conference does not guarantee that the paper will be published in the SI. SI papers are required to follow the JAAR submission website and select “Special Issue on “Climate Risk and Environmental Accounting in a World of Change” as the “Category of Submission”. Papers will be entered into the review process as soon as they are received.
