BAFA SITUATIONS VACANT - Accounting History SIG

There are several opportunities open for volunteers to work with BAFA. We accept self-nominations and nominations from friends/colleagues for posts. Please do not be too modest or wait to be asked – your interest in any of these positions would be very much welcomed. 

Accounting History Special Interest Group (AHSIG)

The AHSIG invites expressions of interest and nominations for the following posts to serve on the on the Executive Committee. You will need to be a member of BAFA and of the AHSIG if you are selected.

1. Public Relations & Newsletter Editor

2. Accounting History Support Officer

Public Relations & Newsletter Editor

This role involves further developing public relations activities for the SIG and editing the newsletter which will be published twice a year.

The role involves promoting AH SIG and BAFA in accordance with their aims. Specifically, for AH SIG these are to:

  • encourage research and scholarship in Accounting (in) History;
  • establish a network of researchers and educators to enhance this area;
  • provide support for PhD students, early career accounting history researchers as well as supporting other researchers who are interested in incorporating accounting history within other research areas or wish to gain experience in relation to accounting history research;
  • promote the accounting history SIG’s periodic workshops and events.

Accounting History Support Officer

This role involves supporting early career accounting history researchers and PhD students as well as supporting other researchers who are interested in incorporating accounting history within other research areas or wish to gain experience in relation to accounting history research. The role will include developing supporting conferences and workshops.

The role involves promoting the Accounting History SIG and BAFA in accordance with their aims. Specifically, for the Accounting History SIG these are to:

  • encourage research and scholarship in Accounting (in) History
  • establish a network of researchers and educators interested and researching in Accounting history
  • provide training supporting for PhD students, early career accounting history researchers as well as other researchers who are interested in incorporating accounting history within their research areas or wish to gain experience in relation to accounting history research;
  • promote Accounting (in) History through periodic special workshops and events.

The elections for these new posts will be held at the AHSIG Annual General Meeting (AGM) on  9 February 2024.

The deadline for receipt of interest is 5 February 2024 at 12pm.
