Vacancies: Accounting Education SIG

There are several opportunities open for volunteers to work with BAFA. We accept self-nominations and nominations from friends/colleagues for posts. Please do not be too modest or wait to be asked – your interest in any of these positions would be very much welcomed.

Accounting Education Special Interest Group

In the AE SIG, all Committee members have an active role. The roles of Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Conference Co-ordinator, Immediate past chairperson and Host of the next annual conference are formal roles required by the Constitution. All the other roles are determined by the Executive Committee of the SIG. Members of the Executive may need to allocate new roles during the year between elections or appointment.

The AE SIG invites expressions of interest and nominations for the following posts to serve on the Executive Committee. You will need to be a member of BAFA and of the AE SIG if you are selected.

1. Conference Co-ordinator
2. Additional Events Organiser
3. Co-Opted Role(s) (maximum of 2)

NB: The current Conference Co-ordinator and Additional Events Organiser intend to stand for election.

1. Conference Co-ordinator

The Conference Co-ordinator is responsible for all aspects relating to the organising of the conference including, but not limited to, advertising, managing review of papers, drafting the conference schedule and working with the conference host on all aspects of the event.

2. Additional Events Organiser

The Additional Events Organiser is responsible for leading, designing, organising and promoting the events of the SIG in coordination with the Executive Committee and others involved in events. Currently the Additional Events Organiser runs and leads our successful online writing retreats.

3. Co-Opted Role(s) (maximum of 2)

We welcome expressions of interest for co-opted roles. This should outline the nature of the role for which you would like to be considered and any relevant experience (maximum 1 A4 page).

Deadline: For expressions of interest and nominations is 18 May 2025 at 12pm.

Application process: Expressions of interest for all posts should be e-mailed to the Chair (copied to Secretary) by the deadline. Expressions of interest should include details of how the nominee has been involved in the accounting education community and the AE SIG, and what areas of expertise they would bring to the Committee.
