BAFA SITUATIONS VACANT: South West Area Group Chairperson

There are several opportunities open for volunteers to work with BAFA. We accept self-nominations and nominations from friends/colleagues for posts. Please do not be too modest or wait to be asked – your interest in any of these positions would be very much welcomed. 

South West Area Group (SWAG)

The main aims of the South West Area Group (SWAG) are to further the objects of BAFA by:

  • Encouraging and promoting research and scholarship on accounting and finance issues within its area (the south of Wales and the south-west of England).
  • Fostering a network of researchers and educators within its area.
  • Supporting PhD students and early-career researchers within its area.
  • Organising conferences which provide a supportive environment for academics and PhD students to present their research.

There is currently a vacancy for the role of Chairperson and we invite expressions of interest.

Deadline for receipt of interest: 17 July 2026 at 5pm.

The Chairperson is responsible for:

  • Leading the SWAG, including initiating and managing its overall direction.
  • Overseeing the implementation of agreed policies and strategies in line with the SWAG’s constitution.
  • Ensuring that the affairs of the SWAG are conducted in a manner that complies with the policies and practices of BAFA.
  • Chairs SWAG meetings and represents the SWAG on the main BAFA Executive.

The new Chairperson will serve for three (3) years following the SWAG AGM.

Expressions of interest should be emailed to south-western-ag@bafa.ac.uk by the closing date of 17 July 2026 at 5pm. The EOI should outline the areas of expertise the nominee would bring to the role.

Note: An election will be held at the SWAG AGM to be held during its Annual Conference at Swansea University on 7 September 2026.
