BAFA SITUATIONS VACANT: Conference of Professors of Accounting and Finance (CPAF)
There are several opportunities open for volunteers to work with BAFA. We accept self-nominations and nominations from friends/colleagues for posts. Please do not be too modest or wait to be asked – your interest in any of these positions would be very much welcomed.
Conference of Professors of Accounting and Finance (CPAF)
The objects of CPAF are to further the objects of BAFA by:
(i) considering matters affecting accounting and finance education and research in universities and their interaction with accounting and finance practice and industry and commerce, and with other sectors of the education system;
(ii) formulating and expressing the view of accounting and finance professors on such matters;
(iii) making recommendations to appropriate bodies;
(iv) liaising with the Committee for Departments of Accounting and Finance on matters of joint concern.
There are several opportunities to work with the CPAF: all Committee members have an active role. We invite expressions of interest for the following roles.
- Chairperson
- Vice-Chairperson
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Events Organiser
- Rewards Survey Coordinator
- Mentoring and Development Lead
Note: Appointed candidates will be ratified at the next CPAF SIG Annual General Meeting (AGM) (date to be announced).
The Chairperson is responsible for:
- Leading CPAF, including managing its overall future direction.
- Overseeing the implementation of agreed policies and strategies in line with CPAF’s constitution.
- Ensuring that the affairs of CPAF are conducted in a manner that complies with the policies and practices of BAFA.
- Chairing CPAF meetings and representing CPAF on the main BAFA Executive.
The Vice-Chairperson is responsible for:
- Supporting the Chairperson in reporting the business of CPAF to the AGM and the Executive Committee of BAFA.
- Working closely with the Chairperson and taking the lead on a selection of the activities and strategies of CPAF.
- Deputising for the Chairperson (on CPAF and BAFA responsibilities) when required.
The Secretary is responsible for:
- Performing the required formal record production (e.g., annual report) and records management role of CPAF.
- Correcting and storing agreed minutes of Executive meetings and General meetings (AGM).
- In association with the Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson, responsible for formal communications and dealing with constitutional issues.
The Treasurer is responsible for:
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all CPAF financial transactions, including income, expenditure and sponsorship, as well as managing the CPAF bank account, in accordance with BAFA and CPAF procedures.
- In co-operation with the Chair and Secretary, monitoring CPAF’s financial position, ensuring resources are used effectively to support events, initiatives and the strategic priorities of CPAF.
- Preparing and delivering CPAF’s annual financial statements to BAFA in a timely manner.
The Events Organiser is responsible for:
- All aspects relating to the organising of CPAF events including, but not limited to, advertising of events and drafting of schedules.
- Working with the event host on various aspects.
- Liaising with the Chairperson and other committee members in respect of CPAF events and activities.
The Rewards Survey Coordinator is responsible for:
- Developing and updating the annual survey as and when is required.
- Communicating, and promoting engagement with, the survey to the relevant population of members.
- Organising the analysis of survey results.
- Communication of survey results to relevant BAFA members.
The Mentoring and Development Lead is responsible for:
- Overseeing CPAF’s BAFA Mentoring Programme which supports BAFA’s members, including early career researchers.
- Promoting the Mentoring Programme to BAFA members, encouraging participation and recruiting mentees and suitable mentors.
- Monitoring programme effectiveness through mentor and mentee feedback, using insights to support ongoing enhancement and mentor recognition.
The new Executive will serve for three (3) years following the next CPAF AGM.

The EOI should outline how the nominee could contribute to the CPAF community and describe the areas of expertise they would bring to CPAF in relation to the role they are applying for.
