BAFA SITUATION VACANT - Accounting Education Special Interest Group (AE SIG)

There is an opportunity open for volunteers to work with BAFA. We accept self-nominations and nominations from friends/colleagues for posts. Please do not be too modest or wait to be asked – your interest would be very much welcomed. In the AE SIG, all Committee members have an active role. 

The roles of Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Conference Co-ordinator, Immediate past chairperson and Host of the next annual conference are formal roles required by the Constitution. All the other roles are determined by the Executive Committee of the SIG. Members of the Executive may need to allocate new roles during the year between elections or appointment.

The AE SIG now invites expressions of interest and nominations for the following posts to serve on the Executive Committee. You will need to be a member of BAFA and of the AE SIG if you are selected.

Treasurer 

The Treasurer is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all AE SIG financial transactions, including income, sponsorship and expenditure, as well as managing the AE SIG bank account, in accordance with BAFA and AE SIG procedures. In co-operation with the Chair and Secretary, the treasurer monitors the AE SIG financial position, ensuring resources are used effectively to support events, initiatives and strategic priorities of the SIG. S/he is also responsible for preparing and delivering the AE SIG’s annual financial statements. 

Please note: The current Treasurer intends to stand for election. 

Elected member (without a portfolio)

This role does not carry a designated portfolio. Members standing are asked to outline the nature of the role for which you would like to be considered and any relevant experience.

Please note: Olga Cam will be standing for this post, to continue in her role as Social Media co-ordinator. The post is open to applicants with other potential contributing roles to the SIG.

Deadline: For expressions of interest and nominations is 8 May 2026 at 12pm (BST). 

Application process: 

Expressions of interest should be e-mailed to the Chair (copied to Secretary) by the deadline. Expressions of interest should include details of how the nominee has been involved in the accounting education community and the AE SIG, and what areas of expertise they would bring to the Committee. Candidates present at the AGM will be given the opportunity to make a brief address, no longer than 300 words, to the meeting. A member of the Executive will read out a short statement at the request of candidates unable to be present at the AGM
