SIG ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2016

Wednesday 4 - Friday 6 May 2016 The MAC, Belfast

The BAFA Accounting Education SIG Annual Conference is designed to provide:

  • a setting for discussions of research into innovations in accounting education amongst a range of other topics in the area of accounting education;
  • a forum for presenting emerging and full papers;
  • workshops at which researchers can develop ideas for research projects or discuss current work and ideas;
  • opportunities for accounting educators to identify partners (or institutions) for collaborative research;
  • a network of continuing support amongst attendees.

Emerging papers will describe either the initial stages of a project or the initial analysis of findings. Full papers will describe completed projects. Discussant’s comments will be provided on full papers. 

Our keynote speakers are Professor Kim Watty Associate Dean Deakin University (Australia) and Professor Trevor Hassall Professor of Accounting Education Sheffield Hallam University (UK). This year's conference is organised by Professor Joan Ballantine, Ulster University Business School.

REGISTRATION DETAILS

Registration will open on Friday, January 29 2016. Early Bird tickets will be available until 31 March, and registration will close on 31 April 2016. Please read the Conference Registration Details document for information on subsidised rates and instructions to authors.

CONFERENCE VENUE

The conference will take place at the MAC in Belfast—home of the Titanic—and will be hosted by the Ulster University Business School. It takes place five days before the European Accounting Association (EAA) Annual Congress in Maastricht, The Netherlands, which starts on 11th May 2016, making it convenient for delegates from outside the United Kingdom to combine the attendance of both events. 

SUBMISSION DEADLINE

Please email abstracts to joan.ballantine@ulster.ac.uk before 28 February 2016. Notification of acceptance of papers will be issued within five  working days of receipt. Authors of emerging papers are not required to submit any further drafts of their paper to the conference organiser. Authors of full papers are required to make a submission of their full paper no later than 31 March 2016 to the conference organiser. Full papers will be distributed to discussant(s) for review prior to the conference. Discussants will present their comments to authors during the conference session.

PAYMENT AND CANCELLATION POLICY

Due to the commitment made to the conference venue we are only able to refund half of the conference cost if cancellation is made before 15th April 2016. Cancellation after this date will not be refunded but delegate substitution will be available. In this case, details of the substitute must be emailed to the conference organiser (joan.ballantine@ulster.ac.uk).
