About Us

The main purpose of the BAFA Scottish Area Group (BAFA Scotland) is to further the objectives of the British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA) and this is set out in our constitution document. In broad terms, BAFA Scotland seeks to encourage and promote research and scholarship in accounting and finance among academics working at Scottish institutions and others with an interest in the Scottish academic, business and public sector landscapes. We also seek to support accounting and finance PhD students currently studying at Scottish academic institutions. We actively develop our connections with the accounting profession and in particular, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) and are keen to develop further connections with business, the public sector and other organisations who may be interested in the research of our members. BAFA Scotland also seeks to provide a forum for discussion on learning, teaching and assessment issues facing accounting and finance academics in Scotland and to facilitate the promotion of best and innovative practices.
